So, what does being a Talent Programme Manager involve?
It’s my job to ensure all of our talent programmes are delivered to benefit the young people involved and our clients alike. I oversee all the developmental phases, deliver training, and interact with everyone involved to set them up for success.
What made you want to work for Visionpath?
I chose Visionpath over other offers because I truly believe in diversification in the workplace. Someone’s socioeconomic situation shouldn’t limit the opportunities they have in life, nor should it dampen their ambitions.
What’s the best part of your job?
Seeing how so many of the young people on our programmes grow and develop from day one to day end, but also having our clients truly believe in the power of social mobility and its benefits.

What’s your personal experience of social inequality?
I come from a mixed Asian background. Add being a proud Muslim on top of that and all of a sudden some people look at you very differently. I’ve been told my name wouldn’t inspire clients with confidence on the phone or in an email; I’ve had multiple occurrences of racial abuse; and, most significantly, I’ve been told what jobs I’d be good at based purely on stereotypes of people who look or sound like me.
Why do you think businesses are mad to miss out on socially diverse talent?
There are so many ambitious, hardworking and inspiring young people from an array of backgrounds who could really redefine the way we work – in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, but also by bringing their own unique ideas and experiences to the table to help businesses grow and progress.
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Focus on yourself and your success, whatever that means for you. The friends, the parties, and the freedom will come later.

What do you love to do outside of work?
My greatest passion is road trips. I’m a huge fan of cars and the freedom of driving to a destination. Creating memories and enjoying the journey whilst experiencing new cultures, tastes and sights really makes me appreciate life.
Here at Visionpath, we do what we do because we want all young people – no matter their background – to start their career on an equal footing. And because we know that, right now, businesses are missing out on a wealth of untapped talent.
